In eastern China, the two 27-story towers of the new Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort are breathtaking.
The hotel, which was designed by Ma Yansong of Beijing-based MAD Architects, is based on the shores of Lake Taihu and the architect said it was the water and light of the lake which most inspired him.
Imagine the curves of a $1.5 billion arch. The hotel boasts 321 rooms, an indoor pool, fabulous food at the Yue and Feast restaurants and great design. Swarovski crystal garlands blow you away above a 28-ton hunk of jade in the lobby. Once the starting point of the Silk Route, historic Huzhou is a must if heading to China.
Rooms are roughly around $500 a night.
