The Guesthouse, For Modern Charm & Healthy Cuisine in Vienna

Comments Off on The Guesthouse, For Modern Charm & Healthy Cuisine in Vienna

Sure, there’s pure old world luxury in Vienna like Hotel Sacher, which also home to the historical chocolate tarte and has a property in Salzburg (we love both properties), but if you’re looking for something a little more quaint and modern, with inn-like qualities, just around the corner in central Vienna is The Guesthouse.

They have a variety of different styled-rooms and suites and all the rooms are fairly spacious for a European urban hotel, especially in a city center. The Guesthouse is so centrally located, that you can get to a lot of the cultural and historical sites by foot.

For example, there are suites facing the courtyard with views of St. Stephens cathedral and includes a cozy living room area, bath and rain forest shower, air conditioning, a wine fridge, espresso machine and minibar – all drinks except spirits are included in the room rate btw, including wine.

The rooms also have B+O TV and Audio in Dolby Surround 5.0, high speed W-Lan, a cordless phone which is a godsend when on business travel, towel radiator (also heatable in summer), and Molton Brown amenities, including hand made soap from the soap manufacturer Wolfgang Lederhaas.

You can also get a suite with views of the historic city center or of the Opera and the Albertina.  Huge lounge windows are among the great features from the 2nd to the 7th floors, all with cosy living room areas, bathtub s, a rainforest shower, and the rest of the ammenities and luxury details mentioned above.

Downstairs, there’s a fabulous cafe and restaurant, which offers fabulous pastries and cakes….oh so delish!  They also offer a wide array of specialty and decaf teas in a variety of flavors and infusions — they’re massive, so you can make large pots of tea from one bag.

While I rarely give a call out to a hotel restaurant, the breakfasts are divine! Plenty of traditional and organic choices throughout the menu….

A lighter option is toast with cream cheese and chives — and plenty of chives. Their portions were on the large size, including their varied selection of tea which they serve in tea pots, a godsend for tea lovers like me.

Simple goat cheese with nuts.

They serve their eggs combined with bacon which I didn’t expect — it was so delicious that I ordered it for two out of three mornings along with goat cheese and a couple of pots of organic tea.

Delicious powdered muffins.

Two thumbs up for a mid-level boutique style luxury stay in the heart of Vienna.
