The 16th annual International Beer Festival takes place in Berlin, Germany, August 3 through 5, 2012.

Scheduled more than a month ahead of its more famous cousin (Munich’s Oktoberfest), Berlin sets out to prove that it can hold its own.

Karl-Marx-Allee is turned into the world’s longest beer garden and bar for the fest. On this stretch of more than a mile, some 300 breweries from 86 countries will offer at least 2000 brands of the world’s finest beers.

If you’re wandering northeastern Germany, check it out and let us know if they measure up to Munich!
