This labor-intensive dish is worth the effort. Beetroot is the main ingredient, which is why it tends to have a deep reddish-purple color. It also includes meat, potatoes, cabbage and sometimes vegetables like radishes or cucumbers, and is typically served cold. Top it with a sour cream and parsley and serve with fresh crusty bread to enjoy the meal in its traditional form.
