Coffee is consumed in huge quantities across the world everyday. So we like hearing about people who want to do something interesting with the waste products created by drinking so much java.
After seeing tables made from coffee and dresses made from coffee pods, we now have a lamp made from coffee courtesy of Spanish designer Raúl Laurí.
Dubbed the Decafé lamp, Raúl’s inspiration is clear. The shape of the lamp is reminiscent of a coffee mug and the material itself is made from recycled coffee grounds. Thanks to his awesomeness, Raúl won first place in Salone Satellite Awards during Milan Design Week 2012. An award well deserved.
Anything that shows an innovative spirit and a love of upcycling gets a gold star in our book.
