Did you know that Little Italy can be found in the Volunteer State? Well, at least that’s true for September 6 through 8, 2013, when “La Bella Vita”, the Italian Lights Festival, takes place on the campus of St. Pius X Classical Academy, 2750 Tucker Road, Nashville, Tennessee.
This festival highlights the food, wine, music and traditions of Italy. Live music performances will feature tenor Nathan Pacheco, big band orchestra Radio Daze and others.
Little Italy can be found in Nashville on the weekend of Sept. 6-7-8, 2013 at Nashville Italian Lights Festival. Held on the beautiful campus of St. Pius X Classical Academy in north Nashville, just minutes from downtown, the festival will highlight the food, wine, music and traditions of the vibrant Italian lifestyle. Live music performances will feature internationally renowned tenor Nathan Pacheco, classical crossover soprano Diane DiStasio, big band orchestra Radio Daze, among others.
Nashville Italian Lights Festival is a free three-day fun-filled event for all ages packed with a full roster of Italian cultural activities: Bocce Ball Tournament, Grape Stomping Contest, Meatball Eating Contest, Kids Zone, Tea with Mother Goose, Italian Wine Garden, and the Italian Marketplace. Enjoy Italian Food Demos by celebrated local Italian Chefs, Italian Wine classes conducted in the Wine Garden, Italian language lessons and Italian sing-a-longs. Stroll along the booths for handcrafts, art, Italian themed aprons, caps, t-shirts and more. Terrific prizes include a trip-for-two-to-Italy plane tickets, $500 Bocce Tournament Team Prize, and much more.
“This is the best Italian-themed event our city has ever seen,” says Mike, a retired longtime Nashville resident.
“It’s just like our Italian Feasts up north!” says Joe, a young professional who moved to the South from Upstate New York.
Michael King, owner of Monell’s Restaurants and festival founder commented, “I started this new Nashville tradition to feature the growing Italian-American community in town. Our efforts support education in this historic community as we enjoy the sprawling 8 acres of the grounds of St. Pius.”
