Some two dozen lavender destinations will open their doors July 13 and 14, 2013, for the annual Oregon Lavender Festival.
It’s set for July 12 through 14, 2013.
Since 2000, the festival has been celebrating all things lavender on the second weekend in July (when the majority of lavender is at its peak in the Pacific Northwest).
The festival has several components: a tour of lavender farms and lavender-centric nurseries in the region Southwest of Portland (most offering U-cut lavender and/or lavender plants for sale), and an Artisan Fair in downtown Yamhill, Oregon, with lavender-based booths, activities and food.
LAVENDER ART: In weeks prior to the festival, plein air artists will capture colorful local fields on canvas and display their art during the festival at a juried art show and sale in Beulah Park in Yamhill.
LAVENDER PHOTOGRAPHY: Each year, the Oregon Lavender Association invites photographers to capture the magic of lavender in Oregon. Entries are displayed at the Helvetia Lavender Farm, and judged by an independent team of professionals.
FESTIVAL POSTER: The award-winning photos from our photo contest are used to create posters and other promotional materials. This year’s festival poster uses a photograph of a bicycle at Mountainside Lavender taken by Thomas Armeli.
