A Murmuration of Starlings on Ireland's River Shannon

Comments Off on A Murmuration of Starlings on Ireland's River Shannon

The River Shannon is the longest river in Ireland at around 225 miles long. It divides the west of Ireland from the east and south. County Clare, being west of the Shannon but part of the province of Munster, is the major exception. I discovered a short film that follows the journey of two girls in a canoe on the River Shannon and how they stumble across one of nature’s greatest phenomenons; a murmuration of starlings.

A murmuration is known to be an act or instance of murmuring or a flock of starlings. In this case, it’s the latter and the effect is quite amazing. Take a look at this short film of Murmuration (Official Video) by Sophie Windsor Clive & Liberty Smith.
